10 July 2026 Convening

Stakeholder workshop at Nyayo House brings ministries, banks and counties together

Presenters from the Ministry of Labour & Social Protection, the Business Registration Service, the Kenya Revenue Authority, the National Judiciary Mediation Department, Nairobi City County and partner financial institutions set out what each requires from grassroots groups — and where the process currently breaks.

The session produced agreed referral routes and a commitment to publish requirements in a form groups can act on.

June 2026 Platform

Digital platform pilot opens self-registration to the first cohort of groups

Groups in Nairobi began self-registering and tracking applications through the CECF digital platform, linking directly to the Ministry of Labour & Social Protection and the Kenya Revenue Authority.

May 2026 Partnership

Financial inclusion agreement covering group accounts and enterprise financing

A partnership framework covering group account structures, group lending, LPO financing, asset financing, pre-vetting pipelines and joint financial literacy delivery.

April 2026 Advocacy

Leadership forum convenes representatives from 500 socioeconomic groups

Group leaders set the agenda themselves. The three issues raised most often were the cost of registration, the distance to the nearest office, and disputes that had gone unresolved for years.
